Designer: Theo Egami

The story of this coffee table begins not with a sketch, but with a conversation between materials. Inspired by the topography of Brazil’s mountainous interior, where raw nature meets quiet architecture, this piece finds its voice in contrast: warm wood and cool metal, soft curves and crisp lines, lightness and structure.

The table’s base is sculpted from solid wood, carefully chosen for its natural movement and depth. Whether richly grained or subtly toned, each slab is hand-shaped and assembled with joinery techniques that require no shortcuts. The wood is left slightly open-pored, inviting touch and evolving with time, a living surface that tells its own quiet story.

In dialogue with this organic foundation, slim metal accents are introduced—not as decoration, but as structural punctuation. These elements trace the underside of the tabletop, wrap around corners, or reinforce joints with elegant restraint. Their matte finish—whether brass, blackened steel, or brushed aluminum—catches the light without stealing attention.

The overall form is low and expansive, grounded in proportion and visual rhythm. Thoughtful recesses and subtle insets give the table depth and dimension, while the open design encourages flow in a room. Every angle is considered, every junction deliberate.

At its core, this is a piece that respects the legacy of Brazilian design while embracing a modern vernacular—less about nostalgia, more about presence. It doesn’t shout; it lingers.

Built by hand, finished with care, and made to last, this coffee table is a quiet anchor in the living space, where materials meet, moments gather, and design finds stillness in form.

Tauari, also known as Brazilian Oak, is comparable to North American Red Oak, but 13% harder. Its colours range from off-white to medium brown, with a medium graining pattern and low luster. Tauari wood provides the highly sought after "wheat" colour associated with domestic oak. In addition to being visually appealing, this hardwood is also resistant to decay, insects, and other impacts, ensuring long lasting use of your Tauari wood product.
