Capanema
Designer: Luciano Santelli
Drawing inspiration from the bold elegance of midcentury Brazilian architecture, this counter blends robust geometry with tactile warmth. Its design is informed by the iconic works of the 1950s and ’60s—where form followed function, but never at the expense of beauty.
The piece is anchored by a commanding solid wood base, meticulously crafted to reveal the richness of the grain. Vertical slats run along the facade, adding rhythm and depth while subtly referencing the breezeblock screens and brise-soleils of modernist Brazilian structures. These sculptural elements create a dynamic play of light and shadow, lending the piece an architectural quality even at human scale.
A floating top, slightly recessed from the base, enhances its visual lightness while providing a generous working or serving surface. The counter’s proportions are carefully calibrated—wide enough to encourage gathering, yet slender enough to preserve flow in open-plan interiors.
A built-in footrest, integrated seamlessly into the lower framework, offers ergonomic support and ease of use, making it ideal for casual dining, entertaining, or communal work. Every joint and surface reflects a commitment to traditional craftsmanship and long-lasting design.
With its striking silhouette and quiet material richness, this piece is both centerpiece and utility—grounded in heritage, yet unmistakably modern.

Multiples options of veneer availableTauari, also known as Brazilian Oak, is comparable to North American Red Oak, but 13% harder. Its colours range from off-white to medium brown, with a medium graining pattern and low luster. Tauari wood provides the highly sought after "wheat" colour associated with domestic oak. In addition to being visually appealing, this hardwood is also resistant to decay, insects, and other impacts, ensuring long lasting use of your Tauari wood product.
