Material
Piquiá wood is a material with a light shade and an incredible versatility. It grows mainly throughout the Amazon in upland forests. But it can also be found in other locations in the Northeast region of Brazil. The Piquiá tree can reach 20 to 40 meters in height and 0.90 to 1.80 meters in diameter. It also bears prickly rind fruits that are edible after being boiled (similar to almonds).
Heavy wood (density 0.93 g/cm3); porous; thick texture; imperceptible smell and taste.
Durability: highly resistant and durable.
Workability: due to its high density, it is a strong wood and difficult to work with, either with manual or mechanical tools. Good finish with varnish, painting and polishing. After a meticulous selection, the pieces are sent to the workshops.
The raw wood undergoes strict quality controls. Analysis of the pattern of veins, knots, durability and strength. These steps allow us to obtain an exceptional result. Each piece is unique and take account the imperfections of raw materials. In other words, we respects the veins, contours, time stamps and the knots of wood, making it a point to exhibit and integrate them into the design of the pieces.
