Apollo
Designer: Pepe Lima
The creation of the Apollo armchair begins in the heart of Brazil, where expert artisans handpick sustainably harvested hardwoods from the Atlantic forests. Each selection is guided by a discerning eye for strength, character, and natural beauty. The wood’s distinct grain patterns and warm undertones are celebrated—not masked—making every Apollo armchair a unique testament to the raw elegance of nature.
After the selection, the wood is treated with the utmost care through an intricate drying process. Beginning with open-air seasoning to release internal moisture gradually, and followed by precision-controlled kiln drying, this multi-week ritual fortifies the wood against time. The result is a material that promises exceptional stability, durability, and a flawless finish.
With the timber perfectly prepared, skilled craftsmen begin shaping the Apollo’s defining form. Influenced by Brazil’s mid-century design heritage, the chair’s sculptural frame features sweeping, curved arms carved from solid wood—a nod to both modernist purity and organic fluidity. These curves aren’t just aesthetic; they are ergonomically engineered to embrace the sitter in relaxed sophistication.
The upholstery is a statement of luxury: thick, cloud-like cushioning is enveloped in a rich, textured bouclé fabric, offering a tactile experience as indulgent as it is visually striking. Every seam is stitched with precision, ensuring both comfort and long-lasting refinement.
The final assembly of the Apollo armchair is a symphony of form and function. Each joint is strengthened, each surface polished to perfection. What emerges is not merely a chair, but a sculptural centerpiece—an homage to Brazilian artistry, comfort, and contemporary design sensibility.
Materials
Solid Tauari Wood
Tauari, also known as Brazilian Oak, is comparable to North American Red Oak, but 13% harder. Its colours range from off-white to medium brown, with a medium graining pattern and low luster. Tauari wood provides the highly sought after "wheat" colour associated with domestic oak. In addition to being visually appealing, this hardwood is also resistant to decay, insects, and other impacts, ensuring long lasting use of your Tauari wood product.
